Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the Carolina Renegades!  As you begin your search for a club that is right for your family and player, you may have some questions.  We have answered some of the most common inquiries below, but should you have additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at your convenience.  We are glad to provide any information you may need to make the correct decision.  We can be emailed at [email protected]

  • Do players have to try out for a team?

Yes.  The club has posted tryout dates each year.  If a player is not available for the scheduled dates, they may contact us at [email protected] to see if a makeup date can be scheduled.

  • Is there a fee to try out?

There is a try out fee of $30 per player.

  • Do I need to register for tryouts or can I just show up?

It is best that you register for tryouts as soon as possible.  This will create a registration number for your child that will be given them to wear at tryouts.  It makes the sign in process easier and smoother once you arrive at the facility.  It also allows us to plan for proper staffing for player evaluation.  You can register your player(s) at our website:  www.carolinarenegades.com and choose the “register” button in the upper right hand corner.

  • When does season start / end?

Our seasons are based on a one-year program.  Our fall league season begins in late August with practice and league games running September through November.  We take a break from December until mid-January when practices start again for spring tournament season.  Spring season is over in late April / early May.  During breaks (winter and summer), we plan optional camps and clinics for the players.  Detailed schedules are provided to each team based on age, level, and ability.

  • Where does the club practice?

Teams presently practice at our facility within Providence Wesleyan Church located at 2098 State Road, Summerville (In the Cane Bay / Goose Creek area)

  • Where and when are games scheduled?

Younger teams typically play in the Tri-County area.  Games are normally scheduled for Saturdays.   Older teams (U-13 and above) may travel as far as Columbia to play league games.  During tournament season, individual teams and coaches decide on the length of travel and which events fit best for their team.  Generally, the farthest a team travels would be Savannah, Myrtle Beach, and Columbia.

  • How many days a week do teams practice?

Generally, teams practice two times per week.  Practice schedules are announced to individual teams once teams are set.

  • When are teams finalized?

After tryouts, coaches review player evaluations and form teams.  This normally takes about a week to assess.  Throughout the year, if there are openings on teams and a player wishes to join, a tryout date is set for evaluation and the player will be notified within the week as to the results.

  • What are the yearly club dues and what do the dues cover?

Player dues are based on a yearly commitment and vary per age group.  The dues cover ref fees, field fees, and league fees for the fall season, as well as coaching fees, registration, facility fees, etc. for the entire year.   Once a player is accepted on a team, an initial commitment fee is paid and the remainder of the dues are broken down into four additional monthly payments.

For the 2019-2020 Season, the fees for the club will be as follows:

Players born between 2010 – 2012:  $650 per year

Players born between 2009 – 2008:  $975 per year

Players born in 2007-2001: $500 for Fall League Season only, $850 for full year season

  • How much do uniforms cost and what do they include?

Uniforms include two jerseys, a pre-game shirt, a practice shirt, two pairs of shorts, two pairs of socks, and a back pack.  Prices vary based on sizing but run in the range of $175 - $200

  • Are there any other costs?

When teams travel to tournaments, there may be minimal fees to cover stipends and expenses for coaching staff.

  • Are there scholarships / fundraising opportunities available?

It is the mission of the Carolina Renegades to make soccer available to all players.  Throughout the year we hold several fundraising opportunities which allow players to raise money to cover expenses.  We also have a limited number of scholarships available.  Should a family need financial assistance, they are requested to contact us at [email protected] and they will be instructed on how to apply for a scholarship.
